Full Moon Over San Antonio

The full moon setting in San Antonio just needed the perfect foreground.

It was an early morning in San Antonio. I was preparing for a conference session, when I glanced out the window and saw the full moon setting. I grabbed my camera, rushed to the elevator, and hurried out the door. The moon was hanging just above the buildings, so I half ran down the sidewalk looking for a foreground, stopping every half block or so to shoot a few frames, but not quite finding what I was looking for. Of course, I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I just knew I wanted something that would turn an average full moon shot into something more.

Then I saw it. The Tower Life Building. Dead ahead and across the street. The moon was just dropping below the green roof, and was about to fall directly behind a gargoyle stretched out from a corner of the building to watch over the city below. I framed the shot, fired off a few frames to check the exposure, and waited. Turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
